Boise will soon have its own version of a “muscle beach” near the banks of the Boise river, thanks to a generous outdoor gym donation. Meridian-based Bodybuilding.com is donating 15 pieces of fitness equipment, including a sit-up bench, leg press and rowing machine, all designed to use individuals' weight to provide resistance.

Bodybuilding.com will also cover installation and maintenance costs for five years – a gift worth nearly $80,000, according to The Idaho Statesman.
The outdoor gym will be free and open to the public as soon as early June 2013.

Installation to begin soon in the open space shown here, near the sand volleyball court in Ann Morrison Park. |
Located near the Royal Blvd. entrance to the park, the gym will add unique fitness opportunities not otherwise available in the area. The public is invited to attend a grand opening at noon on Thursday, June 6th.
If you'd like to take advantage of this new gym but aren't sure how to use the equipment, join a program like
